And in this life, I've chosen to be a human fully engrossed on a path of discovering my medicine through both my own body and and the Earth's. It's an interesting experience to discover you've been walking a path much longer than you were aware of...
While this journey consciously began for me when I made the decision to commit myself to standing beside other human's as they discover their own body's intuitive intelligence (and increase their capacity to touch and be touched by life), I originally stepped onto this path a long time ago.
Since I was little I was obsessed with creativity, collaboration, and art's ability to touch deeply into parts of our being we as human's seemed to not know how to touch ourselves.
In high school I was a theater kid who spent hours playing with how to blend the lines of creative disciplines. In college I worked in the shop creating sets, acting on stage, designing costumes, and writing to my hearts content. I also delved deeply into the study of philosophy, psychology and the human potential. In the end, I graduated from Colorado College with a Independently Designed Major that explored how creative collaboration could be used as a therapeutic device for audience members.
After graduation, I merrily entered the entertainment work force only to discover that, while I loved being an artist and creating art, I despised the way art sucked the life out of my Human Vessel. I've always been an active and healthy little lady, but whenever I was working and on contract I became an allie-caholic who slept very little, ate very little, and gave everything to my craft only to deplete my human.
I knew there had to be another way, so I went back to graduate school to explore it. Getting my Masters in Positive Organizational Psychology brought me down a path I didn't expect. PosOrg Psych is often described as "strength based approaches to issues in the workplace." For me, I looked at it as finding strength-based approaches to issues in any system (cause your girl didn't have the heart to go into corporate America). Instead I took what I learned in graduate school and applied it to the overarching rhythms of existence with a deep knowing that excavating the strengths in our own body is the most potent tool we have to deal with any issue in our "system." And everything I offer, the deepest medicine I have to give, springs from that.
